Job Overview
LaBella Associates' Planning Division seeks a Planner to join our either our Downtown Rochester office or Downtown Buffalo office. The Planning Division at LaBella Associates provides planning, environmental, permitting, and funding services to a variety of municipal, private, and utility clients in addition to serving internal LaBella divisions.

Under general supervision of the Planning Division Director the ideal candidate will have experience in land use planning, GIS, SEQR and grants. The candidate may also participate in a broad range of other planning services offered by LaBella Associates including economic development services, environmental reviews, and permitting. Excellent writing, communication, and interpersonal skills are essential for the position.

Responsibilities
The ideal candidate will be self-motivated with an eagerness to learn any of these duties. Some of the duties the candidate may be involved in include:
  • Assisting in preparing reports and analyses including land use plans, strategic downtown/economic development plans, and area/neighborhood plans.
  • Data analytics
  • Preparing maps for reports and planning/development analyses.
  • Assisting with applying for and administering grants and other funding programs.
  • Assistance with permitting
  • Assistance with State Environmental Quality Review Act (SEQRA) and National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA)
  • Participating in public meetings and community engagement.

Qualifications
  • Masters in urban planning, public administration, or a related field. Candidates with a bachelor’s degree will also be considered;
  • AICP preferred or on track to achieve certification;
  • Proficiency with a variety of computer software including Microsoft Office, Adobe Suite, ArcGIS, online applications and mobile applications; and
  • Understanding and ability to utilize social media applications is a plus.
